Church Retreat
Each autumn, North Baltimore Mennonite Church holds a church retreat in the hills of Eastern Pennsylvania for fun, fellowship and inspiration. A guest speaker is invited for the adults, and a full program is planned for the children. This year, we met at the new location of Camp Hebron in Halifax, PA on October 19-21.
In anticipation of Pastor James' upcoming retirement (Dec 30), we invited congregational consultants, Rose Graber and David Bartow, to meet with us and talk about pastoral transitions. NBMCers were asked to complete an extensive questionnaire in preparation for their individual meetings with Rose and/or Dave. During our worship service, members shared about times of transition in their lives and things that helped to ease those transitions. This time of change is also a great opportunity to see what new things God would like to do at NBMC.
Numerous other activities were held throughout the weekend including: a hike up Peter's Mountain, horseback riding, rock climbing, Gold Rush game, our annual Talent Show, roasting s'mores over the fire, quilting, kids' crafts, a kids' nature walk, scrapbooking, and more. We were blessed with gorgeous weather and a good time was had by all. Join us next year!

These small groups meet once a week for Bible study, fellowship and the occasional potluck dinner. Approximately 65% of those who attend NBMC are also part of a fellowship group. You are welcome to visit the various groups to see which one is the best fit for you. For information, call the church office (410/467-8947) or email pastor@enbmc.org.

Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS)
For the last several years, a group of NBMC members spent a week in January volunteering with Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS). MDS is a "volunteer network through which various constituencies of the Anabaptist church can respond to those affected by disasters in Canada and the United States." While the main focus is on "clean up, repair and rebuilding homes, this activity becomes a means of touching lives and helping people regain faith and wholeness." See the official MDS site for more details.
Currently NBMC members, Ken and Martha June, are serving as volunteer coordinators for the relief efforts in New Orleans, LA.
